16th March was a sunny Sunday for the big American Show, held for the first time at Dandenong. Wow, what a venue! Acres of green grass on both ovals, and lots of car parking elsewhere. The company that curates and hires the Flemington Racecourse carpark became just a little too hungry, so the venue was moved right across town to the Dandenong Showgrounds.
Organised by the Association of Motoring Clubs for nearly twenty years as their main fundraiser, the day seemed to attract more of everything at Dandenong - more older cars, more hot rods, and according to everyone, more Cadillacs. They were just about impossible to count, but Manny tells me there were 61 Cadillacs and LaSalles there, which would be a new record, I think.
